Scope and content:

This sub-group comprises the official public minutes of the Virginia Military Institute Board of Visitors. The first meeting of the Board was held in May 1839. A significant portion of historical minutes have been digitized and are available online, including those for the Civil War era. Modern minutes (from 1982-forward) are also available online.

Biographical / historical:

The Board of Visitors is the governing body of the Virginia Military Institute. The first Board meeting was held in May 1839 and it has operated continuously since that time.

Accruals:

Physical minutes (bound volumes) are periodically transferred from the Secretary to the Board. Digital minutes are captured from the VMI website and added to the digital repository as soon as minutes are posted.
