Scope and content:

The bulk of this collection consists of items dating from T. Randolph Perkinson's World War I service with Headquarters, 30th Division, as an aide-de-camp to General S. L. Faison. Documents include:

  • Letters of recommendation
  • A special order
  • A battlefield map
  • A leave of absence document
  • 30th Division and 119th Infantry histories
Also included are documents and photos dating from his cadetship and later life.

Biographical / historical:

Thomas Randolph Perkinson, Jr. (1895-1973) graduated from VMI in 1918, served as a First Lieutenant during World War I, and was a well-known businessman in Danville, Virginia.
