Scope and content:

This collection consists of papers (approximately 50 items) that document the United States Marine Corps career of William G. McClure, Jr., VMI Class of 1943. The bulk of this collection is concerned with his active duty service during World War II, when he served with the 1st Marine Division in the Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart. Other items include:

  • Papers relating to his postwar service as a reserve officer
  • Photographs, including one photograph of the Class of 1943 Ring Figure Dance (November 1941)
