Background

Scope and content:

This collection consists of one VMI scrapbook compiled by J. Frank East that documents his cadetship from 1920 to 1924. The scrapbook includes photographs of buildings, people, and the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) cavalry unit, dance programs, sports souvenirs, and other memorabilia.

Biographical / historical:

John Franklin East was born in 1901 in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1924 and then owned a shipping business. He died in 1979 in Norfolk.
