Background

Scope and content:

This collection consists of the account book of William H. Mitchell. The account book contains entries for cadet expenses (1870-1871). It also contains household financial accounts (1889-1891) for Mitchell and possibly other family members.

Biographical / historical:

William Heiskell Mitchell was born in 1850 in Abingdon, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1871 and went on to become a railroad employee and farmer. He died in 1907 in Abingdon.
