This collection consists of one document (dated January 25, 1872) that appoints Emmett M. Morrison a Brigadier General of the 8th Brigade, 4th Division, of the Virginia Militia.
- Biographical / historical:

Emmett Masalon Morrison was born in 1841 in Smithfield, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1861. During the Civil War he served with the 15th Virginia Infantry Regiment. After the War he became a teacher. Morrison died in 1932 in Smithfield.
