The Otis D. Smith papers consist of the personal papers (10 items) of Smith, including:

  • A letter of appointment to VMI (1929)
  • A letter from the Lexington (Virginia) Postmaster explaining why VMI does not have a branch post office
  • Correspondence concerning the purchase of a radio and radio contest
  • Finals program (1933)
  • Two photgraphs
  • A postcard (1929) sent by Superintendent John A. Lejeune to parents of new cadets

Biographical / historical:

Otis David Smith was born in 1913 in Richmond Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1933. During World War II he was an United States Army officer. After the War, he was a businessman. Smith died in 1992 in Richmond.
