This collection consists of one VMI scrapbook compiled by Eli B. Springs. The scrapbook includes clippings, programs, invitations, and other memorabilia from 1911 to 1913.
Also included is one scrapbook page (fragment) dating from Springs's service in France during World War I. The page includes an armed forces newspaper called "The Route Step" (Vol. 1, No. 1; dated July 15, 1918), "somewhere in France," ticket stubs for military travel, and clippings.

Eli Baxter Springs was born in 1894 in Fort Mill, South Carolina. He graduated VMI in 1915. From 1917 to 1919 he served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Service. He was also a businessman and stockbroker in Charlotte, North Carolina. Springs died in 1977 in Charlotte.
