The James D. Darden papers consist of the Darden's Civil War papers, including:

  • Two military orders (dated February 28 and March 21, 1865) signed by Darden
  • One Confederate States of America 5 dollar bill
  • One list of clothing signed by Darden
  • One bank note dated March 9th, 1865
  • One typescript biographical sketch titled "Record of J. D. Darden"

Biographical / historical:

James David Darden was born in 1845 in Southampton County, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1867 and was a New Market cadet. He went on to be a merchant and died in 1899 in Southampton County.
