Background

Scope and content:

The bulk of the Robert F. Hunter papers consist of an edited typescript and illustrations for Hunter's book, "Claudius Crozet" (University of Virginia Press, 1989). The book was co-authored by Edwin L. Dooley. The papers also include a typescript of the article entitled "The Turnpike Movement in Virginia, 1816-1860."

Biographical / historical:

Robert F. Hunter (1921-?) received his PhD from Columbia University (New York) and was a Professor of History at VMI from 1954 to 1986.
