This collection consists an account book owned by George S. Patton, Jr. The book contains a list of school expenses incurred while he was a cadet at VMI from 1873 to 1877.
- Biographical / historical:

George Smith Patton, Jr. (1856-1927) was the father of George S. Patton of World War II fame. He was the son of Colonel George S. Patton, a Confederate officer killed in battle at Winchester, Virginia in 1864, and Susan Thornton Glassell.
Patton entered VMI in 1873 and graduated in 1877. He married Ruth Wilson on December 10, 1884 in Los Angeles, California. He was an attorney, politician, and civic leader in the Los Angeles area. He died on June 10, 1927.
