Cooper (Class of 1876), Selby Jones (Class of 1864), and Charles D. Walker (Class of 1869). The notebooks also contain poetry by faculty member Robert L. Madison. An index is located in front of volume one.

Biographical / historical:

Robert Beverley was born on April 26, 1858 at "Avenell" in Fauquier County, Virginia, the fourth son and tenth child of Robert Beverley and Jane Eliza Carter. He graduated from VMI in 1876 and married Richardetta (some records say Georgetta) Earl Carter in December 1879 and the couple had four sons and one daughter. Beverley spent his adult life as a farmer. He died on December 28, 1928 at the Beverley family ancestral home in "Blandfield" (located in Essex County, Virginia on the Rappahannock River).
