Restrictions:

Collection is open for research; access requires at least 48 hours advance notice. Because of the nature of certain archival formats, including digital and audio-visual materials, access will require additional advanced notice. Copies of digital files will be provided for use upon request.

Terms of access:

The nature of the Hampden-Sydney College Archives and Special Collections means that copyright or other information about restrictions may be difficult or even impossible to determine despite reasonable efforts. Abstract:
This collection includes ancient coins from the Roman and Greek empires (500 B.C.-600 A.D.). Some of the coins were purchased in Greece between 1956-1957, others were found during an excavation in Kavala, Greece (dates unknown). For each coin, there is a corresponding envelope with handwritten notes; additionally, the majority of the coins have an informational foam core for a potential display. There is also a substantial amount of documentation relating to the discovery and acquisition of the coins prior to their arrival at Hampden-Sydney.
