Collection is open for research; access requires at least 48 hours advance notice. Because of the nature of certain archival formats, including digital and audio-visual materials, access will require additional advanced notice. Copies of digital files will be provided for use upon request.

The nature of the Hampden-Sydney College Archives and Special Collections means that copyright or other information about restrictions may be difficult or even impossible to determine despite reasonable efforts. Abstract:
This collection consists of two binders, fully filled with photographs of the 1996 and 1997 graduating classes of Hampden-Sydney College during the commencement ceremonies. Each binder has a number on the spine that corresponds with the class year and there is a message in the beginning of both binders that states, "Chappell Studio congratulates your graduates on their [1996/1997] Commencement Ceremony. Chappell Studio is proud to have been a part of this momentous event and presents this album to you featuring highlights of your graduation ceremony." In addition to the commencement ceremony, there are also pictures of campus buildings and landscaping.

Scope and content:

The Commencement Photos collection, SC-000120, contains photographs documenting the graduation ceremony of Hampden-Sydney's class of 1996 along with other photographs of campus. Not included in the collection are photographs from throughout the academic year.
