Scope and content:

One bound volume of meeting minutes for the Mt. Solon Bank, Inc. The minutes are first recorded with the establishment of the bank on October 14, 1909 through October 24, 1923. Includes original bylaws (pages 7-18) adopted on September 1, 1910. Audits by the examining committee and other notes are tipped-in or laid-in throughout.

Biographical / historical:

The Mt. Solon Bank, Inc. was established in 1909 with local residents as early investors. The bank was robbed in January 1931 when robbers detonated a bomb and stole $2,500.00. The original bank building is located in the center of Mt. Solon along VA-731/Natural Chimneys Road.
