The Shenandoah County General Store Ledger, 1896, is comprised of one bound ledger documenting individuals' purchases from a general store, presumably in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Entries include sundry foodstuffs (coffee, butter, sugar, onions, eggs), miscellaneous merchandise (snuff, plug tobacco, nails, calico, suspenders, cake soap, matches), and services rendered (cutting corn, shoeing horse, "hauling cords wood to Broadway"). Patrons of the store are listed with their respective account information with items purchased and the date of the purchase. Patrons' surnames present in the ledger include Lohr, Zigler, Shirkey, Spitzer, Phillips, Scothern, Holsinger, and Stepp.
