Background

Scope and content:

This collection is comprised of papers belonging to 1946 Madison College alum, Mabel Hancock Holt. It contains a 1945 Western Union telegram, issues of "The Breeze" dated October 12, and October 19, 1945, a 1946 commencement invitation, and photocopies from "The Schoolma'am" (undated). It also includes a booklet, "Class of 1946 Madison Memories," printed in 2006 for an alumni reunion.

Biographical / historical:

Mabel Hancock Holt was born December 13, 1923 in Martinsville, Virginia. She attended Madison College from 1942-1946, where she was senior class president of the Student Government Association and a member of the Cotillion Club. She died September 25, 2017.

Items were transferred from JMU University Advancement, on January 12, 2018.

Items were donated to the JMU Advancement Office by Estelle K. Tulloss Wagner, a friend of Mabel Hancock Holt.
