Background

Scope and content:

This collection offers a glimpse into one physical education major's campus life during the late 1950s/early 1960s. Included are a letter of acceptance and room deposit receipt, 1958-1959; class schedules, appointments, testing schedules for freshmen, and laboratory directions for human physiology class; forms for a day trip and date, invitations to campus events and a 1963 commencement announcement.

Biographical / historical:

Mary Margaret Hall was a 1963 graduate of Madison College and a 1959 graduate of Washington and Lee High School in northern Virginia. She majored in Physical Education and was a member of the Athletic Association. An avid swimmer, she was a member of the "Porpoise Club" and obtained certification in water safety from the American Red Cross in 1960.
