Scope and content:

The Rockingham Public Library Collection of Rockingham County Legal Documents, 1767-1873, consists of one box comprised chiefly of legal documents from Rockingham County and Harrisonburg. Materials include court case documents, road and bridge records, complaints, and land causes.

Biographical / historical:

Contents relevant to Rockingham County and Harrisonburg from the earliest days of the county's formation.

Acquisition information:
Received on deposit immediately after a February 3, 1994 contract with the Rockingham Library Association was signed. Existing organization and file headings were retained.
Processing information:

In order to streamline the process of applying collection numbers, Special Collections staff completed a large-scale renumbring campaigin in the spring of 2017. This collection was previously cataloged as SC 3060.
