Scope and content:

This collection contains records from the Office of the Registrar. The collection has documents from the 1950s to the 1990s. Some of the materials in the collection include semester data, enrollment information, facilities reports, monthly and annual reports, analysis data on registration, and information on suspensions and probations.

Boxes 1-3 contain documents on university and unit profiles, FTE shapers, fall and spring semester data for 1991-1992, enrollments highlights project, enrollment management and reports, facilities utilization reports, and enrollment projections.

Boxes 4-6 contain documents on self-study steering committee, FAC by-laws, faculty handbook, honor committee, School of Professional Studies, student government, students codes of rights and conduct, certificates, final day exercises, probation and suspension records, monthly reports, class rolls, NROTC Program, grade point averages, records on foreign students, analysis of registration, H.E.W. reports, State Council of Higher Education reports, schedule of classes.

Boxes 7-9, contain records on the schedule of classes, registration requests for grade change forms, register course request form.

Biographical / historical:

The Office of the Registrar implements the academic policy of George Mason University as well as applicable federal and commonwealth law. It does so by maintaining accurate and secure records of all students and issuing transcripts and verifications of student records; conducting registration; preparing and publishing online the Schedule of Classes and the University Catalog; administering academic policy; awarding and posting degrees; determining student eligibility for NCAA athletic participation, Veteran's educational benefits, and in-state tuition status; and providing individual student data and decision-support information to the academic community. This collection contains archival records from the office from the 1950s through the 1990s.
