This notebook, which dates ca. 1918, contains linguistic class notes taken by Addie Cato Walker.

Biographical / historical:

Addie Cato Walker of Emporia, Virginia was born in 1899 to Junius Dalby and Etta Belle Cato Walker. In 1916, she enrolled as a student in the State Normal School for Women, and earned her diploma in 1918. While a student at State Normal School for Women, Walker served on the Student Government Senior Committee and the YWCA Executive Board and was a member of the Athenian Literary Society, the Ruffner Society, the Athletic Association, and the French Club. For many years, Addie Cato Walker was a public school teacher in Emporia, Virginia.

Custodial history:

The notebook in this collection belonged to Addie Cato Walker while a student at State Normal School for Women. It was later acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
