The item in this collection, which dates from 1961, consists of a citation, issued to Nancy Nelson by the Student Government Association and details the circumstances that lead to the citation.

Biographical / historical:

Nancy Scott Nelson of Harrisonburg, Virginia was born in 1939 to Charles Alexander and Nancy Sublett Nelson. In 1959, Nelson transferred from Converse College in South Carolina to Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia and graduated with a degree in secondary education in 1962. While a student at Longwood College, Nelson was a member of the Student Education Association, and the Canterbury Club. Additionally, she was on the Rotunda staff and served as Corresponding Secretary of Delta Zeta and as Archives Chairman for Pi Gamma Mu.

Custodial history:

The item in this collection, which relates to Nancy Scott Nelson during her time as a student at Longwood College, was acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
