Background

Scope and content:

This collection consists of a schedule of classes, dated September 11, 1913. The schedule lists classes and class periods for each day of the week.

Biographical / historical:

Louise Elizabeth Armstrong of Richmond, Virginia was born in 1895 to Thomas and Christine B. Armstrong. She attended State Normal School for Women from 1913 to 1915, graduating with the June 1915 class. While a student at State Normal School for Women, Armstrong was a member of the Cunningham Literary Society and the Richmond Club. Additionally, she served as treasurer of the Deutscher Sprachverein (German Club). For several years after graduation, Armstrong was a teacher in the Richmond, Virginia public school system. In 1920, she married Alonzo J. Davis of Law Moor, Virginia.

Custodial history:

The item in this collection, which related to Elizabeth Armstrong during her time as a student at State Normal School for Women, was acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
