This collection consists of a history of the State Teachers College Class of 1933.

May Cornelius Van Tromp Downs was born on December 29, 1911 in Pulaski County, Virginia. She graduated from [then] State Teachers College in 1933 with a bachelor's degree in history. During her time at the school she was involved in many organizations, including: Granddaughter's Club (her mother, Sallie Willette Leache, attended the school in 1898), Dramatic Club, Executive Board, Field Hockey, the Y.W.C.A, and the Athletic Association.
