Scope and content:

This collection, which dates from 1955 to 1979, consists of Longwood College-related memorabilia and ephemera that belonged to June Carol Sandidge, class of 1959.

Biographical / historical:

June Carol "Sandy" Sandidge of Lynchburg, Virginia was born in 1937 to Fred and Sarah E. Sandidge. From 1955 to 1959, she attended then Longwood College, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. While a student at Longwood College, Sandidge was a member of the Athletic Association, the Student Education Association, and the Baptist Student Union. Additionally, June Carol Sandidge was named "head rat" during her sophomore year.

Custodial history:

Nancy Shelton and the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations acquired the materials in this collection, which relate to June Carol Sandidge during her time as a student at Longwood College, in 2014. It is unknown when this collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
