This collection consists of a Licentiate of Teaching, issued by the State Female Normal School, earned by Preston Womack in June 1892.
- Biographical / historical:
-
Preston Womack of Prince Edward County, Virginia, was born in 1874 to Edward Lockett and Sallie Emmett Womack. In 1888, she enrolled at then-State Female Normal School and earned her diploma in 1892. After graduation, Womack relocated to Washington, D.C. where she was employed for several decades as a land law clerk at the Department of Agriculture.
