This autograph book dates from 1884 to 1889 and contains signatures and quotes from many of Kate Childress' classmates and teachers, including school president William Henry Ruffner.

Biographical / historical:

M. Kate Childress was born in 1866 in Jetersville, Virginia. She was a member of the first class of students to attend State Female Normal School when it opened in 1884.
