- Biographical / historical:

Ernest S. Ould (1895-1963) was the son of Walter Ould and Nancy Oney. He was born in Giles County, Virginia. He enlisted as a private in May 1918 and was sent to the University of Virginia as part of a training detachment before leaving for the front with Company F, 323rd Infantry, 81st Division at the end of July 1918. He was discharged from service June 1919.
