Biographical / historical:

The Quarles family have been prominent members of Albemarle County and surrounding counties since the 1700s. A branch of Priddy's Creek is named Quarles Creek. Family members of owned hundreds of acres at Priddy's Creek, Rock Hall, Mechunk, and Buck Island. Modern prominent family members include Dr. Lawrence R. Quarles who was the Dean of Engineering at the University of Virginia.
