Background

Scope and content:

The silver pendant has a shield on a black background. The shield is inscribed "VPI Richmond Club" over a skull and crossbones and below two shaking hands. The back is inscribed "L.D. Simmons '34", indicating it presumably belonged to Leon Dalmain "Dal" Simmons, VPI Class of 1934.

Biographical / historical:

Leon Dalmain "Dal" Simmons graduated from Virginia Tech in 1934. He married Jane Farinhold Simmons.

This collection was acquired by the Special Collections and University Archive prior to 2025.
