Background

Scope and content:

The collection contains a minute book of the Zion Hill Church that was kept from June 1848 to August 1851. The book was used to keep track of meetings, baptisms, and the dismissal of church members due to misconduct. Another item included is "The Triangular School Review," a publication made by teachers local to Roanoke, Virginia. The publication includes pieces written about public schools, a couple are about school organizations one being the Junior Red Cross Auxiliary. There are updates on teachers classes and the honor rolls from the schools are listed. Collection contains a partial transcript.

Biographical / historical:

Zion Hill Church, is a Baptist church located in Roanoke County, Virginia. The Roanoke Valley Baptist Association was created at the church on August 7, 1841. There is no date listed for the creation of the church.
