- This collection contains administrative letters, meeting minutes, and reports from the Boards of Vistors of Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) during Guy L. Furr's (1895-1977) tenure 1954 to 1964. It also contains materials from several organizations that he was a part of, such as VPI Alumni Association, VPI Educational Foundational, and VPI Continuing Education Program. This collection includes miscellaneous pamphlets and booklets about VPI and other universities in Virginia.

This collection contains administrative records from Guy L. Furr, while on the Boards of Visitors at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and other VPI programs from 1952 to 1964.
Series I: VPI Board of Vistors, 1953-1964, contains multiple memorandums, committee reports, letters and other materials between Guy L. Furr, the Board of Visitor members, and the Office of the President. It also pertains to the development of the War Memorial Chapel and the transition from President Walter Newman to President T. Marshall Hahn, Jr.
Series II: VPI, 1954-1964, includes memoranda, committee reports, letters, flyers, pamphlets, and other materials regarding VPI. Specific files relate to VPI Alumni Association, VPI Educational Foundational, and VPI Continuing Education Program.
Series III: Assorted Files, 1949-1962 contains different pamphlets, flyers, and other supplemental information about agriculture careers, other state universities, public law, and information about corporations and careers in Virginia.
- Biographical / historical:

Guy Littleton Furr (1895-1977) was born in Loudon County, Virginia. In 1916, he graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked at Appalachian Power, serving in numerous positions until eventually becoming the Vice President and Consultant of the compnay. He stayed in that position until retiring in 1960.
Furr was on the Board of Visitors at Virginia Tech from 1954 to 1962, serving as Rector from 1956 to 1962. In 1973, Virginia Tech awarded him the Alumni Distinguised Service Award. He passed away in 1977 in Roanoke.
