This collection contains three envelopes that included several different mining companies stock certificates from 1896 to 1904. These stock certificates were owned by different people with the amounts ranging from $1,000 to $2,000.

Background

Scope and content:

This collection contains three envelopes with a circular logo that states "Miller-Young Brockerage Co." on the inside and along the outside, "We Buy, We Sell, Mining Stocks." Inside the two of the envelopes included several different mining companies stock certificates from 1896 to 1904. A couple examples of these are The Amalgamated Gold Mines $2,000 stock certificate for G.A. Johnson in 1902, The Mary Cashen Mining Company $2,000 stock certificate for G.A. Johnson in 1904, The Buckhorn Gold Mining Company $1,000 stock certificate for Arthur Willet in 1901, and The Uncle Sam Mining & Milling Company $1,000 stock certificate for K. Macdermind in 1899.

This collection was acquired by Special Collections and University Archives prior to 2012.

The processing, arrangement, and description of the Mining Companies Stock Certificates was completed in September 2021.
