Ledger contains the business records of a blacksmith shop run by the Argabright family in Blacksburg, VA. Ledger records the transactions dating from February 14, 1848 through March 14, 1854. Ledger records repeated transactions with members of the Blacksburg community including Robert T. Preston, John Stanger, John Peterman, William Barger, and Edwin Amiss. The ledger lists charges to Wesley Argabright for usage of pasture land in the front cover. The names William Argabright and James Argabright are also listed on the cover. The primary owner of the ledger is unclear.

Biographical / historical:

Wesley Argabright was one of the 26 individuals who purchased land from William Black when Blacksburg, VA was founded in 1798. His decendants owned a blacksmith shop on Main Street in Blacksburg, VA. William Argabright (b. 1790) and sons Wesley (b. 1819) and James Argabright (b. 1833) listed blacksmith as their occupation on census records.
