Biographical / historical:

This letter was written by a sutler with the Ohio 116th in September 1863, near Martinsville, Virginia (now West Virginia). Written to Mr. A. J. Frame, whose son, Adolphus B. Frame, was a lieutenant in the regiment, the letter contains a signature that is an abbreviation and largely illegible, possibly William M M.
