Background

Scope and content:

This collection consists of three binders containing summaries of more than 1100 stories owned by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation, likely used by production teams during the 1930s in selecting new or previously produced stories for development into films. For each of the titles, the summaries include a note on the story's genre; its production status (unproduced or year of prior production); a one-sentence overview of the plot; source of the story (whether original or from a published source); the production title; the release title and date (when applicable); the name of the writer; and a lengthier synopsis, generally consisting of three paragraphs. The release dates noted for produced films range from 1915 to 1936.

The "Stories and Plays Owned by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation" Summaries were acquried by by Special Collections and University Archives prior to 1990.
