The Choate Family Correspondence consist of photocopies of the thirty-two letters from William T., S. J., and J. W. to each other and to Martha Choate, wife of William, during the American Civil War. Also, a letter to Martha from James Radcliffe informs her of her husband's death.
- Biographical / historical:

The Choate Family is from Allegheny County, North Carolina. There were three brothers--William T., S. J., and J. W.--who served for the Confederacy in the American Civil War. William enlisted in Company I, 61st North Carolina Regiment, and S. J. and J. W. enlisted in Company F, 22nd North Carolina Regiment. They all died in the war.
