Background

Scope and content:

The papers include a typescript report (1940) by A. Murrill, mining engineer, on the Fishburn Price Mountain coal property in Montgomery County, Virginia, and a letter (1947) by Junias Blair Fishburn to John H. Jones of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on the property. There is also a carbon copy of a letter describing the history of the property to an unknown party, which could be assumed to be the copy of a letter that was referenced in the previous letter to Jones.

Biographical / historical:

Junius Blair Fishburn was a banker and the vice president of the Time-World Corporation in Roanoke, Virginia.

This collection was acquired by Newman Library prior to 1958.
Processing information:

The processing, arrangement, and description of the Junius Blair Fishburn was completed prior to 2010. Additional description was completed in January 2011.
