Biographical / historical:

Goochland County was named for Sir William Gooch, lieutenant governor of Virginia from 1727-1749. The county was formed from Henrico County in 1728.

These records came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of court records from Goochland County. Box 1167978 contains records with accession numbers 20928-20929, 27152, 33212 and 43737.
