Frederick County (Va.) Records, 1746-1927, undated, consist of the following series: Court Records (subfield series include Judgments, Clerk's Records, Personal Documentation and Chancery Records), Bonds/Commissions/Oaths, Marriage Records and Vital Statistics, Land Records, Military and Pension Records, Road and Bridge Records, Organization Records, County Administrative Records (subfield series include Treasurers' Records and Board of Supervisors Records: Road and Bridge Records) and Wills.

Biographical / historical:

Frederick County was named in honor of Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales and eldest son of King George II. The county was formed from Orange County by a statute of 1738 that stipulated that when the population was large enough the new county government would begin to function. The county court first met on 11 November 1743. Part of Augusta County was added in 1754.
