Background

Scope and content:

Minutes and related attachments documenting the meetings, activities, discussions, policy decisions, and recommendations of the Virginia Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators. Includes official board minutes, as well as draft minutes, committee meeting minutes, agendas and other meeting materials. May also include informal fact finding hearing minutes, correspondence, legislation, regulations and reports.

Electronic records often contain board meeting packets with various attachments and draft minutes, while paper records often include minutes only. There may be some duplication between paper and electronic records. For transfers prior to 2012, records of individual boards were accessioned separately. Biographical / historical:

The Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators was established in 1971 to regulate individuals who operate water and wastewater treatment facilities. The Board issues licenses to operate waterworks or wastewater works. It also protects public health, welfare and property, conserves and protects water resources of the Commonwealth and requires examination of operators and certification of their competence to supervise and operate waterworks and wastewater works. In 2009, oversight for Onsite Sewage System Professionals was added to the responsibilities of the board and the name of the board was changed. The Dept. of Professional and Occupational Regulation provides administrative support to the board.
