Background

Scope and content:

Minutes and related attachments documenting the meetings, activities, discussions, policy decisions, and recommendations of the Virginia Fair Housing Board. Includes official board minutes, as well committee meeting minutes, agendas and other meeting materials. May also include informal fact finding hearing minutes, correspondence, legislation, regulations and reports.

Electronic records often contain board meeting packets with various attachments and draft minutes, while paper records often include minutes only. There may be some duplication between paper and electronic records. For transfers prior to 2012, records of individual boards were accessioned separately. After this, transfers of records (records starting in 2008) included all boards, which were accessioned under one accession number. The Fair Housing Board seeks to ensure that discrimination does not occur in the following areas, race or color, national origin, sex, age, disability or family status in regard to selling or renting property. Statutes Title 36, Chapter 5.1 gives the entire Fair Housing Regulation law. The Fair Housing Board also offers an educational certificate program to assist individuals that sell or rent property in abiding by the fair housing code regulations.
