Scope and content:

Pittsylvania County (Va.) Unidentified Arithmetic Book, undated, containing mathematics exercises, multiplication, division and subtraction, as well as weights and measures of all kinds relating to agriculture and business.

The final two pages of the volume are two lists of slave births. One list is titled "ages of negro children" and the other "Nancy Davis's children." Both lists give names and birthdates for each person and cover the years 1792-1826.

Pittsylvania County was formed in 1766 from Halifax County.
