Monroe County (West) Virginia Land Grant to Joseph Quigley, 1808 May 5.

Biographical / historical:

Monroe County (West) Virginia was named in honor of James Monroe, fifth president of the United States. It was formed in 1799 from Greenbrier County, and in 1802 part of Botetourt was added. Monroe County was one of the fifty western Virginia counties to form the state of West Virginia in 1863.

Acquisition information:
The Robert Alonzo Brock Collection was filmed by The Huntington Library in cooperation with The Library of Virginia with funding provided by The Library of Virginia Foundation with the support of The Roller-Bottimore Foundation and The Robins Foundation. Microfilm received 15 April 2004.
