Scope and content:

Lancaster County (Va.) Deed for Lands and Slaves Conveyed by Joseph and Mary Walker Cabell, of Nelson County, to John Coalter, Esquire, of Henrico County, 1815 Sept. 29. The deed conveys lands and 106 slaves from the Corotoman estate in Lancaster County that were formerly owned by George Carter, Mary Walker Cabell's father.

Biographical / historical:

Lancaster County probably was named for the English county. It was formed from Northumberland and York Counties in 1651.

Acquisition information:
The Robert Alonzo Brock Collection was filmed by The Huntington Library in cooperation with The Library of Virginia with funding provided by The Library of Virginia Foundation with the support of The Roller-Bottimore Foundation and The Robins Foundation. Microfilm received 15 April 2004.
