Records, 1742-1858, of Louisa County Circuit Court consist of an inventory and appraisement sale of Sally Hall's estate (1831), wills (1786), clerks' records (no date), documents related to judgments (1845, 1858), documents related to chancery suits (no date, 1847, 1854), free negro certificate (1803), and a facsimile of records copied from order books (1742-1853.)
Wills include Samuel Waddy, Jr., 1786; Charles Dabney, 1833; Catherine W. Dabney, 1841; and Chapman Gordon, 1855.
Documents related to chancery suits include a bill in the suit of James D. Porter versus Charles Poindexter, 1847; the answer of Richard Williams in the suit of William Bell versus Richard Williams and Coleman Payne 1847; and a summons in the suit of Edward H. Layne, trustee, and others versus Administrator of Elisha Melton and others, 1854; a bill in the suit of Jane O. Tate and others versus Henry W. Lasseter and others, no date.
