Journal, 1837-1846, of a general store operated by Richard Morris. The journal records in chronological order the daily transactions of the store similar to a daybook. Information recorded in the daybook includes date of transaction, name of customer, items purchased, quantity of items purchased, cost per item, amount owed, form of payment, and amount paid. Items sold include dry-goods, clothing, spices, apples, corn, and soap. Payments made by cash, credit, or barter of items such as corn, linen, and flannel.
