Daybook, 1806-1807, that records in chronological order the daily transactions of an unidentified merchant. Information recorded in the daybook includes date of transaction, name of customer, items purchased, quantity of items purchased, cost of transaction, form of payment, and amount owed and paid. Merchandise sold include opium, alcoholic drinks (whisky, rum, gin, brandy), dry-goods, nails, salt, calf skin, paper, and dishware. Payments made by cash, credit, or barter of goods such as wheat, corn, and butter.

The unidentified merchant conducted business in Powhatan County, Virginia, during the early 19th century.
