Scope and content:

The collection contains two ledgers from the Tysinger Meat Market located in Mount Jackson Virginia. These ledgers detail sales made by the business in 1931 and 1933. It also contains a single Broadside advertising an auction of real estate and personal property for one W.F. Showman in the Madison District of Shenandoah County.

It is uncertain what the connection is between the ledgers and the broadside, if any exists beyond their presence in the same auction.

Items are dated between 1910 and 1933.

Biographical / historical:

The Tysinger Meat Market was located in what is commonly called the Robinson Produce Building located at 5941 King Street, Mount Jackson Virginia.

Acquisition information:
Purchased from Laughlin Auctions on May 28, 2026. Aucction sale 535 "May Antiques, Sporting and Valuable Auction" lots 1308 and 1314.
Processing information:

Both ledgers were cleaned, analyzed for deteroriation and contextual information, wrapped in tissue paper, and labeled. The 1910 broadside was foldered and placed within the same box.
