Background

Scope and content:

The collection includes clippings documenting the history of sports in Alexandria, the careers of Walton and Jack Tulloch, obituaries of friends, the George Mason Hotel, and local politics. Also included are Walton Tulloch's school documents, family memorabilia, and photographs of the Alexandria National Guard, of Jack and Walton Tulloch, and of their friends and family.

Biographical / historical:

This collection relates to John (Jack) Walton Tulloch and his son, Walton Blair Tulloch. Jack Tulloch worked for the Alexandria Gazette Newspaper from 1918 to 1951 and was a leader in local athletics and a popular, well-known personality of Alexandria. Walton Tulloch served in the National Guard and as a Deputy Sheriff in Alexandria.
